July 3

I woke up with the sun shining, and the birds chirping and I was really worried JT had forgotten to set an alarm, so I got out of bed to get my phone from the charger. It was 5 am. I was not tired at all, and I honestly felt like I was in Canada, if I shut my eyes. The view isn't quite the same, but it sounds like same and I don't have service, so it's pretty similar. I honestly love it.

We walked to find breakfast around 8, because we had a canal tour to catch at 9:30. The place where we were supposed to get free breakfast wasn't open, so we went to a bakery, with free Wi-Fi, and ate there. The canal tour was great because it took us around the city to see everything we had yet to see. We passed the Little Mermaid statue, Nyhaven, and Christiana, all of which we walked to later in the day.

Once we were off the boat we walked to Nygaven first, which is the area with all the different colored apartments and from there we walked to Christiana. Christiana is an independent state from Denmark and it's basically where the stoners hang out and get drunk. Walking through it, it's as though the hippies didn't want to leave the 70's, so they created their own area to stay in the past. Then we went to the mermaid statue. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it helped us get our work out in. On the way back we stopped for a hot dog, of course. And it continuously rained throughout the day. The majority of the day, our conversations consisted of, "what are you going to do once you're home?" Which led to great, in depth discussions on everything North Carolina. Those two are so excited because we only have a month left, and that's insane to think about.

Our last official stop was Tivoli Park, which is an amusement park in the center of the city. It was pretty tiny compared to CP, but it was fun to walk through...except when it started raining...and hailing. We got ice cream and popcorn to wait out the storm though, so we were okay. It took about 30 minutes for the heavy stuff to pass, then it'd slow down, and then it should start pouring again, it was an awful cycle. We somehow made our way to Aleesia's hostel, about a 5 minute walk from the park, and once we were there, another storm hit. This time we could hear the thunder, so we stayed put until we could make a run for the bus. We went back to the Airbnb to take a quick nap, then got right back up and kept going.

We went to a burger place for dinner, and it was well deserved, if I do say so myself. Then we walked back to the lake, to walk around the other half. At some point we stopped to take more pictures and sit on the pier, until we realized we were running out of time if we wanted Wi-Fi. We finished our loop then walked back to the coffee house, that we'd been to the previous night, for drinks and Wi-Fi. We sat there for a hour or so, until they started to close up and now we're just resting our feet until tomorrow's adventure starts.
